Countdown to Christmas: 17 Days!
So if you saw my previous blog post labeled "Countdown to Christmas" I listed what festive activities to do each day until Christmas. Well today is December 7, which means only 17 days until Christmas!! And today would be the perfect day to curl up with a few of your favorite Christmas stories and a cup of hot coco. I know I will be:) Below is my top fave Christmas stories. Check them out.
- The Nutcracker- When I used to do ballet I danced in this several times so it will always have a special place in my heart. It is the story of a girl, Clara, and her adventures on Christmas eve. Read it to see where her adventures lead her.
- T'was The Night Before Christmas- This traditional Christmas story has always been a childhood favorite of mine. This story tells of a family's Christmas Eve.
- Christmas Carol- I've seen this play and read this story several stories. Learn how Scrooge turns around from hating Christmas to loving it.
- Little Women Christmas- I love the little women books and this one is about the girls Christmas.
- The Three kings- A more religious choice, it discusses Jesus's birth.
Time to Sparkle: My Experience with Jesse's Girl Glitter Eyeliner
Jesse’s Girl Glitter Eyeliner in Motown (retails for $1.99 for 0.4 ounces) is my favorite color out of the Jesse’s Girl Eyeliners which are rich in color, creamy in consistency, and wear great on the waterline. This is one shade out of the fifteen in the collection. Motown is a gorgeous blue, slightly teal color with little blue glitters. For the most part it has a creamy consistency, though it does flake occasionally when applied. It does have a great pay off and you only need one swipe to achieve vibrant color. I love to add this eyeliner to matte looks because it adds some unexpected glitter. As for the wear it lasts all day, even in the waterline. I found the color remains vibrant throughout the day. Even the glitters last and don’t fall out of place as they do in some liners.
This liner does not skip or tug at the skin; it applies a smooth even application in one sweep. With the occasional flake here and there. The wear seems to be better than a lot of other blue liners I own. The pencil can be sharpened to a fine tip, making for easy application. If you are looking for teal liner to add a pop to any look, I highly recommend this one. It can be purchased on http://www.jessesgirlcosmetics.com/ for $1.99.
Overall thoughts: I would give this product a 9.5/10. The pigmentation is absolutely fabulous for a drugstore liner, and the texture overall is pretty smooth. It lasts the longest out of any teal liner I have tried. It is easy to apply; only needing one sweep to achieve vibrant, flawless color. It also comes with a sharpener that doubles as a cover. I loved this, because I am always losing sharpeners, so this one is easy to find. It also doesn’t create the hassle of trying to find a sharpener to fit the tip because it is perfectly formed for the pencil. It is great for travel because it has this 2-in-1 mechanism.

Smokey Eye Series: Black
Today’s video is the first of six tutorials in my Smokey Eye Series. I really love the way this look turned out. Let me know if any of you try it!
Gaga Tastic: Tutorial
Lady Gaga is definitely an icon of our time period. She has such a unique personality and sense of style, what is not to love. I was recently browsing Vevo and watched her new video for “Marry the Night”, and then I got the idea to do a tutorial. Since I don’t have the time to film one, I figured I would do a blog post tutorial, something I haven’t done yet. Below is the photo I used for inspiration.
- 1. Start off by washing your face with a good cleanser, then finish off with a toner and moisturizer.
- 2. Start off with a full coverage foundation and apply it all over your face with a stippling brush. I like Revlon Color stay Normal/Dry Skin.
- 3. Conceal under the eyes and on any problem areas.
- 4. Set the foundation with a powder on a big powder brush.
- 5. Apply a light bronzer as a contour for your cheekbones and temples.
- 6. Use a highlighter as blush on the apples of your cheeks for a shimmery pop.
- 7. Apply an eye primer on your lids all the way up to the brow bone; then apply a silver cream shadow as a base. NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Pots and Pans would work perfectly for this look. Apply the jumbo eye pencil only to the lower lid and then blend it out with your finger.
- 8. Apply a sparkly silver shadow all over the eyelid using a flat shader brush.
- 9. Apply a grey color in the crease with a crease brush; then blend with your favorite blending brush.
- 10. Take your highlighter you used on your cheeks and apply it to your brow bone and inner corner of the eye.
- 11. Line your upper lash line with a liquid liner.
- 12. Line your waterline and tight line with a black eye pencil.
- 13. Using an angle brush place a matte black on the outer half of the lower lash line, then the first silver on the inner part of the lower lash line
- 14. Now apply some crazy false lashes and then blend the false lashes with your real ones by apply some mascara. Not too much!
- 15. Then finish the look off with your favorite matte nude lipstickJ
If you try this look post pictures so I can feature you on my blog!
Review: Cover Girl All Over Glow
Cover Girl All Over Glow in Rosy Glow
My New Favorite Highlight: Cover Girl All Over Glow in Rosy Glow
Cover Girl All over Glow in Rosy Glow ($4.99 for 30mL) is a highlighter that can be used to also give an all-over glow. It delivers a very shimmery-sheen pink color. It comes out a bit white when swatched but if applied with a brush it works well. It gives just the right amount of glow and sheen to the face. It is more shimmery than most highlighters I have tried, but it seems to work for it. I was pleasantly surprised with how long the color wears for. It lasted me all day. It has a light rosy scent in the bottle but when applied to the skin it smells like makeup, but it isn’t an over powering scent.
Its consistency is thin and creamy, but can be sticky; another reason I suggest applying it with a brush. You don’t need much of the product at all; it is very pigmented so the tube will last at least 4 months if used on a daily basis.
The downside is that this product was limited edition and can only be purchased from dealers on sites such as EBay (where I got mine). I normally would not do a review on a discontinued product but I love this highlighter so much I had to share it with all of you. Hopefully you can find it somewhere.
Overall Thoughts: I would rate this product 9.5/10. The pigmentation is fantastic; it gives a very vibrant sheen. It has a smooth, creamy texture that if applied right is not sticky. It lasts for a very long time, much longer than a powder or cream highlighter. It is pretty easy to apply if a brush is used. I do not like the packaging though because the tube can dispense a lot more product than actually needed. But if you are looking for a way to add a healthy glow to your face or just highlight this product is a must.
